Shakib Al Hasan ruled out of CWC23: Bangladesh has suffered a big blow. Shakib Al Hasan is out of the World Cup the very next day after his time out dispute with Angelo Mathews against Sri Lanka. He was successful in single-handedly helping Bangladesh win many matches in the 2019 World Cup. Batting brilliantly in 8 matches, he scored 606 runs in 8 matches at an average of 86.57. Was the third-best batsman. Also took 11 wickets. Everyone was praising him, congratulating him, but in the 2023 World Cup, he took a decision which left a big stain on his career. Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan, who came into limelight due to a decision in the World Cup 2023, has been ruled out of the tournament. Due to the injury of his left index finger, he will not be able to play in the team’s last match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. Shakib suffered the injury while batting in Bangladesh’s final league stage game against Sri Lanka in Delhi on 6 November 2023. This is a big blow for Bangladesh, because it has to play Australia in the last match. The fracture was confirmed by X-ray after the game, ruling him out of Bangladesh’s final match of the tournament against Australia on 11 November in Pune. National team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan gave more details about the injury. He said- Shakib Al Hasan suffered an injury on his left index finger at the beginning of his innings, but he continued batting with supportive tape and painkillers.
He further said in his statement – After the match, he had an emergency X RAY in Delhi which confirmed a fracture in the left PIP joint. Recovery is expected in 3 to 4 weeks. He left for Bangladesh on 6 November to begin his rehabilitation. Shakib Al Hasan played a match-winning inning of 82 runs in 65 balls with the help of 12 fours and 2 sixes and led his team to a 3-wicket win over Sri Lanka.
He bowled amazingly and took 2 wickets for 57 runs. An excellent all-round performance in a tense clash earned him the player of the match award. In the same match, Shakib had appealed for time out against Sri Lankan batsman Angelo Mathews and people are also criticizing this controversial method. Veteran cricketers believe that Shakib did not respect the sporting sentiments, while the Bangladeshi captain says that if it is wrong then ICC should change the rules.
In the frenzy of winning the match against Sri Lanka, he appealed for time out against Mathews and kept trying to prove his decision right till the last breath. Shakib Al Hasan was also seen giving many examples in the press conference.
Abuse on the field, clash with umpire… nothing new for Shakib
Shakib even said that he was in a war zone, while forgetting that it was a cricket ground. Here the aim is to win, but care has to be taken that you do not do anything which is against the spirit of the game. Everything has a limit. Not only as a player, but as a captain you have to ensure that you set a good example for the youngsters in the team. Not a crazy captain who abuses on the field.
Clashes with fans. He gets upset over the umpire’s decision and cannot control his anger. Shakib Al Hasan is like that.
Will Shakib become the hero of such Bangladeshi youth?
Shakib Al Hasan forgets during the game that a cricketer is also a human being. His cricketing career is much shorter than his age. After retirement, would any team want to appoint a former cricketer, who is infamous for his misbehavior on the field, as its coach? Will he be given a place in the World Cup commentary panel knowing that he is abusive?
Probably not. Perhaps even the club or franchise cricket team should not do this. It is not possible for anyone to trust such a crazy and infamous cricketer.
Well, first of all let us understand what happened at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi in the match against Sri Lanka. In fact, in a World Cup match, Sri Lanka got its fourth blow against Bangladesh in the 25th over. Shakib Al Hasan dismissed Samarawickrama on the second ball. After this Angelo Mathews came on the field. Before he could take the stance, while tightening the helmet, it was discovered that the strip was broken. On this he points towards the pavilion and orders a new helmet. During this, Shakib Al Hasan appeals for time out and after the drama, the umpire’s decision goes in Shakib’s favor. All the stalwarts of the cricket world do not agree with Shakib on this.
He thought the ball had crossed the boundary for 4 runs, but it was not so. Dhoni was run out on the throw of Praveen Kumar. However, on the advice of Sachin Tendulkar, Dhoni changed his decision and Bell again came on the field to bat. India lost this match by 319 runs, while Bell batted brilliantly and scored 159 runs. England was behind India on the basis of first innings. This decision of Dhoni is recorded in history and is remembered as an example for sportsmanship.
Then Sachin-Sehwag gave life to Lahiru Thirimane
In 2012, Indian spinner Ashwin mankading out Lahiru Thirimane. At that time Sehwag was the captain of the team. Sachin Tendulkar was also present on the field. If the Indian team had wanted, Thirimane would have had to return to the pavilion, but Sachin Tendulkar hushed up the matter by talking to Sehwag. This was the spirit of the game. That is why Sachin, Sehwag and Dhoni are called great. That’s why you are remembered for years and considered a hero, but if you take a controversial decision, you have to live with the guilt of it for the rest of your life. Shakib Al Hasan should have understood here that this is not Bangladesh premier league, where you will behave arbitrarily in your country and it will be tolerated. Will abuse the umpire, kick the stumps, fight with teammates, beat up the fans… the list is long. Be it the World Cup, international cricket or recorded in the books of ICC. Matthews became the first player to time out. Whenever this story is written, Shakib’s name will be in the villain’s column. He won’t be able to change it even if he wants to. However, there is no doubt that he will be a hero for his team Bangladesh with this victory, he will be right as per the ICC rules, but he will continue to be criticized for his sportsmanship. The victory in this match due to their controversial decision has increased Bangladesh’s chances of qualifying for the ICC Champion trophy.
